    Today we’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of John Hancock joining our Manulife family. On April 28, 2004, our U.S. colleagues at John Hancock officially became part of our company, and since then we’ve been making huge strides in helping our customers across the U.S. live longer, healthier, better lives. To celebrate the special moment, we’re sharing a lovely photo taken of our U.S. headquarters in Boston.

    Genetics can play a role in memory loss; however, it has also been found that lifestyle factors, including our diet, can influence the likelihood of memory decline. Here are a few steps to help improve our cognitive performance and decrease our risk of memory decline through nutrition. Video description: How nutrition can fuel our brains... Clean up your diet. Remove refined or processed foods to avoid impairing blood sugars and increasing inflammation. Hydrate. If brain cells do not receive hydration, they cannot function efficiently, leading to difficulty focusing, impaired short-term memory, and recall of long-term memory. Add whole foods. Include fruit and vegetables, switching to whole grains, using good fats. Limit meat and dairy. Source: Telus Health.

Today we’re spotlighting the Green Health Initiative, which works closely with the Maya communities in Guatemala, to gain knowledge of their traditional science of healing using native plant species, and in turn find alternative ways to practice preventative and regenerative medicine, more over fueling innovation in holistic health.
